Savings: price compare the things you buy regularly

Looking to cut your grocery expenses? Make a price comparison book by checking out the grocery shops in your area and list down which items that you regularly purchase are cheapest in whichever grocery shop. You can save up to AUD 20 with this price booklet.

Here’s what you need to do.

Pick which grocery shops that you’d be willing to shop at...

Then, make a list of twenty or thirty items or more that you regularly buy. Include basic food staples like bread, eggs, cheese to other stuff like detergent, toiletries and other supplies.

Make a regular shopping trip to each of the stores you chose. Note down the prices at these places for the items you get. You can make a printout of your grocery list so that it will be easier to compare prices. If some items are unavailable at a particular grocery shop then choose the closest substitute and note that too.

After shopping at each store, just sum up all the items on your grocery list then the idea is to shop at the store with the lowest total. Your regular grocery bill will be cut down quite a bit. Do this for weeks and your savings will add up substantially.
