Solar Panels: saving you money
Installing solar panels is great for the environment, but they can also save you money. It's true that initial costs can be high, but if you follow these steps to ensure the solar panels are working efficiently, you'll save big in the long run...
- Take advantage of local government incentives when you're installing the solar panels. Grants, rebates and tax credits are often available.
- Put the solar panels in an area free of shadows and obstructions. You may need to trim branches and bushes if they are blocking the sun.
- Keep your panels clean. Dust and debris can reduce their efficiency. Wash them with a soft cloth regularly.
- Readjust your panels to match the angle of the sun over the course of the year. Most companies recommend you shift the position of your panels at every solstice and equinox.
- If you are using your solar panels to heat water, install a flow control system. This reduces the amount of water which needs to be heated.
