Transit Insurance - do you really need it?
Transit insurance is worth considering if you are moving home. Read on for some advice on whether you really need it.
Transit insurance
Transit insurance covers your personal possessions while they are being transported to your new home. Coverage includes transit both within Australia and overseas. Most policies cover your belongings from the moment they leave your old house to the moment they are put in your new home. This way packing and unpacking are included. Key features include cover for loss or damage caused by accidents in transit, mishandling by removalists and cover for incidental storage. New for old replacement for damaged is also included in most policies.
Do you really need it?
Transit insurance is a good insurance policy to have if you are moving your belongings to a new home. This is especially the case if you are transporting expensive goods. No matter how careful you and the removalists are there is no guarantee that an accident will not happen. Because of this you it is worth getting a good transit insurance policy.
Shop around
Not all insurers offer transit insurance and premiums can vary among those that do. Because of this it is often worthwhile to shop around. Get premium quotes from at least three insurers and compare rates and fees charged and the deals they offer.

Hi Rhonda, if you are a homeowner you shouldn't have any problem getting a loan for $4000. It is generally harder to get an unsecured loan once you are retired - but because you have a regular pension you may be eligible. Call into your bank for free advice.
